Memodo’s Transformation Project:

Building a scalable Motion Design System used by video teams across Europe

About the client:
Memodo is one of Europe's leading wholesalers for renewable energy solutions. Alongside its e-commerce platform, the company produces educational content through videos, podcasts and online learning resources for installers across Europe.

The challenge

As Memodo’s video teams expanded across Europe, Motion Design became increasingly important—but also increasingly inconsistent.

Without a shared system, production slowed, branding became inconsistent, and recurring animations had to be recreated manually.

Inconsistent motion

Different animation styles/quality depending on the editor.

Slow production

Recurring assets recreated manually.

Difficult to scale

No shared system for international teams.

The solution

My role:

I led the redesign of Memodo’s Motion Design workflow by developing a scalable system that combined reusable templates, automation, documentation and training.

Smart Templates

Instead of “small/medium/large” fixed graphics, templates automatically resized based on input

Documentation & Training

Clear instructions and group sessions so editors across Europe could immediately use the system effectively

Featured components

Speech bubble

A smart speech bubble system that automatically adapts to any text length, position and duration. Consistent animation and seamless match cuts are built in.

Laptop screen recording transition

Simply enter the website URL and drag a screen recording into the MOGRT using Adobe’s Media Replacement. The screen recording is automatically scaled and positioned, while remaining fully adjustable. Clip duration is edited just like any other video clip by trimming the in and out points.

Hand with string transition

A reusable transition that softens hard cuts between scenes. Select text, photo or video from a dropdown, place the MOGRT on the timeline, then either enter text or drag in your media.

Name tag

A simple but essential asset for maintaining brand consistency. Choose the animation direction and orientation, enter the text, and the name tag automatically resizes with perfect padding. Duration is adjusted by trimming the MOGRT on the timeline, while the animation in and out always play correctly, regardless of the clip length.

Text with a marker

A responsive text highlight that automatically adapts to any text length, ensuring consistent animation with no manual adjustments.

Product dimensions and weight

A Photoshop template ensures every product image is the correct size. After importing it into the MOGRT via Adobe’s Media Replacement, users simply choose the animation style and edit the text and line lengths using drop downs and sliders in the Essential Graphics panel.

Confetti generator

Confetti was a recurring secondary animation used to highlight key moments. Rebuilding it from scratch each time was too time-consuming, so editors often skipped it or reused the same alpha animation, limiting flexibility. To solve this, I built a configurable confetti generator that creates fully customisable animations in seconds.

Product video title screen

Product title screens were one of the biggest production bottlenecks. I developed a smart MOGRT that automatically adjusts text and arrow positioning based on the content, while product images are prepared in Photoshop and imported via Adobe’s Media Replacement.

Button with click

A customisable button where the click and thumbs-up icons automatically reposition and animate to match any text length, ensuring consistent spacing and motion every time.

Smartphone with screen recording

Simply drag and drop a screen recording into the MOGRT using Adobe’s Media Replacement. The recording is automatically integrated into the smartphone animation while remaining fully editable.

Motion Design Guide

I helped develop and document a shared Motion Design language, defining how the Memodo brand should move across video content.

The Motion Design Guide was built as an online resource, making it easy to share across international teams and with external freelancers. Any updates are instantly available to everyone, ensuring the guide always stays current.

*Created together with Tamara Schlosser, Motion & Graphic Designer, with guidance and final approval from Fabienne Kapfinger, Brand Team Lead.

Principles

Clear Motion Design principles defined how the Memodo brand moves, ensuring animation consistently reflects the brand.
